What kind of business are you looking to do?

Are you looking for part time, full time or just another side job?

I recommend looking into becoming a UGC Creator.

There's many ways to make $.

Always research anything and everything you can.   You can only grow and learn from it all.

Use all platforms, even if you have to reach out to people verbally to get answers, do it.

Always ask questions, take notes, save videos, screenshots, or files, etc.

Do whatever you can to understand the business you are looking in to.

Make sure to always have a professional email.

For example: Do NOT have an email such as: babymama123@gmail .com or sugardaddy123@gmail .com 

You could use your first and last name @ xxxx.com 

Just make sure it's professional.

Are you looking at becoming a Sole Proprietor or creating an LLC.?

Sole Proprietorship:

If you use your social security as a Sole Proprietorship, there is no legal distinction between the owner and business.

Meaning, the liability.  Because the business is not a separate legal entity, your personal assets (like your home or personal bank account) are at risk if the business is sued or incurs debt.

You would file a Schedule C.

No state or filing fees are required to start.

LLC:

If you create an LLC., the business is a separate legal entity.

Personal assets are generally shielded from business debts and lawsuits.

Requires formal registration (Articles of Organization) and state fees.  There's a process to this.

While they are different structures, both are responsible for filing taxes for State and Federal.

Are you thinking about creating a website to create your portfolio?

Not sure where to go or what to do?

Couple of examples:

Canva has a free website to start with.

I personally use GoDaddy for everything.

I have used them for years and they have excellent customer service too.

If you ever wanted to create your own website, they have website builders that are user friendly and only cost somewhere around $17-$18 (+tax) to say around $25 per month.  They do go up from there depending on what kind of style you want your website to look like or what goals you have in mind.

Free is good to start with but by all means, if you want to pay for a basic domain, go for it! 

New UGC Creators, what I truly recommend is, go to TikTok or YouTube and watch everything you can about setting up a website, portfolio's, creating videos, to what kind of equipment you might need.  There are so many videos out there that will be able to help guide you with how to set things up and how to create that portfolio. 

There a few more steps regarding business in general.  It's not just about Portfolio's, Emails, or setting up Websites and uploading videos with pictures to your portfolio. 

There's what's call the BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION side.

Some don't discuss this and I feel it's important for me to share this with you.  

On the Business Administration side, here are some topics you need to keep in mind.  

1. Contracts - to make sure you and your client/customer are on the same page.

2. Invoicing - knowing how or where to go to when invoicing your client/customer.

3. Getting Paid - how will you get paid? Making sure to set up the appropriate accounts for those transactions.

4. Expenses - utilizing forms/documents to help you keep on track.  You want this to be an easy process of what comes in and what goes out, especially when you're getting ready to do your taxes.
